Dr. Devorah Heitner is the author of "Growing Up in Public: Coming of Age in a Digital World" and "Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive (and Survive) in Their Digital World," books that offer strategies for mentoring kids in an always-connected world. With relatable stories and research-backed advice, her goal is to guide and empower parents to cut through the overwhelm to connect with their kids, recognize how to support them, and help them figure out who they are when everyone is watching.

Dr. Heitner has spoken at prominent national and international conferences including SXSWedy, TEDx, NAIS, ISTE, NCAIS, IECA, AAUW and to numerous parents, educators, students, employees and employee resource groups in workplaces such as Google, Dotdash, Northern Trust and Amazon. Additionally, she has been a guest speaker at, and consulted with, schools, churches, afterschool programs and parent universities, as well as worked with individual families. Advocating for mentoring, not just monitoring, her keynotes engage audiences with fresh insights about communication across the generations and what it is really like to grow up in the digital age.

Dr. Heitner's work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Real Simple, Time and CNN Opinion. She has a Ph.D. in Media/Technology & Society from Northwestern University and has taught at DePaul and Northwestern universities.
