President, University of Texas at El Paso

Diana Natalicio became president of University of Texas, El Paso in 1988. During her tenure, UTEP’s enrollment has grown from 15,000 to 23,000 students, its annual budget from $65 million to nearly $450 million, annual research expenditures from $6 million to over $84 million, and doctoral programs from one to 20. She serves on the board of ACT. Natalicio was a trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation and served on the boards of the American Council on Education, Trinity Industries, and the U.S.-Mexico Foundation for Science. In 2011, she was presented with the Orden Mexicana del Aguila Azteca, the highest honor bestowed on foreign nationals by the president of Mexico.
