Nurturing an impressive body of work that encompasses film, television and music, Diego Boneta is one of Hollywood’s most promising talents as his career continues to evolve with exciting and challenging projects.
Diego starred in the Newline/Warner Brothers film adaptation of the successful Broadway Musical “Rock of Ages,” about Hollywood at the height of the 1980s rock-music scene. Diego stars in the lead role of Drew Boley, an aspiring singer who works at the legendary Bourbon Room and finally gets his chance to open for a major rockstar. This was his first major film role. He was alongside Julianne Hough and an all-star supporting cast that includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Bryan Cranston and Mary J. Blige.
Segueing effortlessly between the big and small screen, Diego quickly garnered attention for his work on the ABC Family hit “Pretty Little Liars” and the CW’s “90210.” He portrayed Alex, the rising tennis star from the wrong side of the tracks in “Pretty Little Liars” and pop star Javier who starts some trouble when he starts dating Adriana on “90210.”
Before being introduced to Hollywood, Diego was already an accomplished actor and musician. He began his career at the age of 12 when he participated in “Codigo Fama,” a children's singing reality series in Mexico. After finishing as Top 5 on the show, he landed his first television role starring as "Ricardo" on "Alegrijes y Rebujos," which also had a musical group attached to the series. With his involvement in the musical group, Diego was nominated for the Best Children's Group at the Latin Grammys in 2004. He was nominated for his second Latin Grammy in 2005 for the soundtrack of “Mision SOS.”
Soon after he joined "Rebelde," the show became one of the most popular and longest-running Novelas across Latin America. In 2006, he released his debut album “Diego Mas” throughout EMI Mexico. The album lead to two Top 10 hits in Mexico and reached gold status in Chile and Brazil. He toured with Rebelde's musical group, RBD, throughout Latin America, Europe and the U.S.A. as a solo artist. Diego was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2006 MTV Awards Latin America.
In 2008, he executive produced his second album “Indigo.” Diego wrote 9 of the 11 songs in this album, and it received gold status within a month of its release. He was nominated as the Best Solo Singer at the MTV Awards Latin America.
A native of Mexico City, Diego currently resides with his family in Los Angeles.
