Actor, Best Known for "Miami Vice" & "Nash Bridges"

Don Johnson is an actor, producer, and singer best known for his iconic role as Sonny Crockett in the hit 1980s television series "Miami Vice." Born in Flat Creek, Missouri, Johnson moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and soon became a household name. His portrayal of the stylish and tough undercover detective, complete with pastel suits and a signature Ferrari, made "Miami Vice" a pop culture phenomenon and earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1986. The show solidified Johnson as a leading man and a symbol of 1980s cool.

After the show ended in 1989, Johnson continued to build an impressive career across television and film. In the 1990s, he starred in the successful series "Nash Bridges" for six seasons, playing the titular role of a San Francisco police inspector. Johnson's film career includes notable roles in "Tin Cup," "Machete" and "Django Unchained," showcasing his range in both comedic and dramatic roles.

In the 1980s, Johnson also pursued a music career, with his single “Heartbeat” reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. "Till I Loved You," a duet with then-girlfriend Barbra Streisand, was a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

In recent years, Johnson experienced a career resurgence with key roles in popular projects such as HBO’s "Watchmen"; the star-studded mystery feature film "Knives Out"; Netflix's crime action thriller "Rebel Ridge"; and Hulu's medical drama TV series "Doctor Odyssey." Johnson also returned to the character of Nash Bridges in a television film on the USA Network in 2021.

Johnson's varied and successful career in the entertainment industry was recognized in 1996 when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His mix of rugged leading-man appeal and versatility has allowed him to maintain a steady presence in Hollywood for decades.
