Author of "High Level Wellness", Wellness Movement Pioneer, Award-Winning Athlete

Donald B. Ardell wrote "High Level Wellness: An Alternative to Doctors, Drugs, and Disease," first published in 1976 by Rodale Press, with subsequent editions by Bantam Books and Ten-Speed Press. Ardell has authored a dozen additional wellness books including "Die Healthy" (with Grant Donovan), "14 Days to Wellness," "Aging Beyond Belief," "REAL Wellness," "Wellness Orgasms," "The Book of Wellness," and "Planning for Wellness." His prolific writing career continues to influence the field of health promotion globally.

Ardell holds degrees from George Washington University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Stanford University, and his doctorate awarded in 1979 by the Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, OH. Since the publication of "High Level Wellness" in 1977, Ardell has been a prominent figure in the wellness movement, engaging in writing, speaking, and teaching. He has been producing the "Ardell Wellness Report" since 1984, comprising 74 quarterly print editions and 650 weekly electronic newsletters. This report emphasizes the key principles of reason, exuberance, athleticism, and liberty, covering contemporary issues across physical, mental, and meaning and purpose dimensions of wellness.

Ardell's commitment to promoting a high-quality lifestyle and REAL worksite wellness programming is evident through his dynamic participation at events such as the "Global Wellness Summit," "Ignite Tampa Bay," and the "Ingersoll Oratory Contest," where he also lectures on the life and speeches of the notable 19th-century orator Robert Green Ingersoll. His contributions to the wellness movement have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Healthy America Fitness Leaders Award in 1991 and the Halbert L. Dunn Wellness Award in 2011. Ardell's athletic prowess is notable as well, with multiple national and four world championships in triathlon and duathlon events to his name. His approach to wellness focuses on prevention and enhancing quality of life through the principles of reason, exuberance, athleticism, and liberty.
