Donald Glover
Award-Winning Actor, Comedian, Writer, Director & Musician; Performs as Childish Gambino
Donald Glover is an actor, musician, comedian, director, producer, screenwriter and DJ. He performs music under the stage name Childish Gambino and as a DJ under the name mcDJ. Glover created and starred in the FX series "Atlanta" from 2016 to 2022, where he won two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
After working on Derrick Comedy while studying at New York University, Glover was hired at age 23 by Tina Fey as a writer for the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." He later rose to fame for portraying college student Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom "Community." Along with his work in television, Glover has appeared in a number of commercially successful films, including the supernatural horror The Lazarus Effect, the comedy-drama Magic Mike XXL, the science fiction film The Martian, the superhero films Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, where he played Aaron Davis, and the space western film Solo: A Star Wars Story, where he portrayed a young Lando Calrissian. Glover also starred in and produced his own short film, Guava Island, and is expected to star in the biopic American Dream: The 21 Savage Story in 2024.
Glover has been a creative force behind several television projects, including co-creating the comedy thriller television series "Swarm" in 2023. He is also confirmed to star and produce a feature set in Sony Pictures' Spider-Man universe and will be the head writer of the upcoming Star Wars series "Lando," alongside his brother Stephen.
On the musical front, after several independently released albums and mixtapes, Glover signed with Glassnote Records in 2011. He released his first studio album, "Camp," that year. His third album, "Awaken, My Love!" earned him his first Grammy Award. His single "This Is America," released in 2018, debuted at number one on the Hot 100 and won four Grammy Awards. His fourth studio album, "3.15.20," was released in 2020.
Beyond his work in film, television and music, Glover is also known for being a private person and rarely posts on social media or does interviews. He was born on September 25, 1983, in Edwards Air Force Base, California, and is currently in a relationship with Michelle White, with whom he has three sons.
