Donna Rosenthal was inspired to write The Israelis: Ordinary People in an Extraordinary Land, when a CNN producer asked her: "Our viewers are confused. We have footage of Arabs who look like Jews, Jews who look like Arabs. We have black Jews, bearded sixteenth-century Jews and sexy girls in tight jeans. Who are these people, anyway?"

Donna Rosenthal's internationally-acclaimed book has over 100 excellent international reviews across the political and religious spectrums - from the Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post to The Weekly Standard, The Jerusalem Post and Haaretz and major newspapers from Germany to Japan. Called the best book about Israelis in decades, The Israelis was selected Significant Jewish Book by Reform Judaism Magazine.

Donna Rosenthal has reported from Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan and was the first journalist to travel to remote mountain villages of Ethiopia and introduce Israel Radio audiences to black Jews praying in grass hut synagogues to go to Israel.
