Writer, Producer, Director, Doreen Spicer is a native New Yorker whom set sights on Hollywood to offer a multi-cultural perspective and has found success. Spicer’s childhood essence was brought to life through “Penny Proud” on Disney Channel’s critically acclaimed animated series, The Proud Family, where she is credited, Developed by and Supervising Producer. Spicer also developed and wrote the musically driven-film, Jump In!, which broke television cable records with 8.2 million viewers and deemed “…the highest rate MOW ever” by Variety. The film was nominated for a Humanitas Prize. Later, Spicer lent her fresh perspective and Puerto Rican heritage to create another animated series, Coqui Loco, also for Disney Channel.

Currently, Spicer created and independently produced the international hit tween sitcom, The Wannabes Starring Savvy, currently airing on Starz Kids & Family US, which follows six teens who want to be pop-stars. As showrunner and executive producer, Spicer was also instrumental in licensing the show in over 100 countries. Debuting first in Australia, March 2010, the show airs on HBO Latin America & HBO Asia, Germany’s Super RTL, in Austria, NOGA Israel, Turkey, and The Netherlands and is the number one children’s show on HBO Latin America. Most recently in October 2013, Spicer made her directorial debut with a musically driven short film, Playground Politix, featuring sixteen girls and boys battle-dancing for space at the playground. The film is ultimately aimed at gender-bully and to encourage fearlessness. Spicer has also created another organic pilot, Super Popular Science Girl, for actress-singer, Aishlinn Kivlighn. The pilot is set to put bullies under the microscope.

Spicer began her career as a writer’s intern on the popular ABC sitcom, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper and continued to hone her craft on shows as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show, and The Cosbys.

Having established credits in all three areas, television, animation and film, Doreen Spicer is continually developing more multi-cultural projects under the auspices of her company, Spicerack Productions, Inc.
