Doug Lansky is one of America’s foremost experts on budget travel. After nearly twenty years on the road, over 120 countries, five filled passports, four foreign languages and hundreds of the world’s great adventures under his belt, Lansky has a bounty of travel insights.

Lansky, originally from Minnesota, has written a weekly Chicago Tribune-syndicated column for five years that has reached 10 million readers in over 40 newspapers, penned several books, including "Last Trout in Venice", "Up the Amazon without a Paddle," and "Rough Guide to Traveling Around the World." Lansky also served as travel editor for Scandinavian Airlines inflight magazine for three years and has contributed to publications such as National Geographic, Traveler, Readers Digest, Esquire, Men's Journal, The Guardian, National Geographic Adventure, Huffington Post and Skift.

Lansky has edited an award-winning travel-humor anthology, contributed monthly to Public Radio’s flagship travel program, Savvy Traveler and hosted an hour-long travel documentary for the Travel Channel/Discovery Channel and taught journalism at Colorado College. His travels have left him living in Colorado, New York, France, Spain, Holland, Norway, and Sweden—where he currently makes his base camp in Stockholm with his Swedish wife Signe, and their daughter Sienna.

On the speaking circuit, Lansky has given acclaimed lectures at nearly 100 universities, spoken to a sold-out audience at National Geographic Headquarters, for the United Nations World’s Tourism Organization, as an after-dinner speaker at corporate events and at both public and industry travel/tourism conferences, at TEDx Stockholm, and set the attendance record for keynote lectures at the 2012 and 2013 ITB Berlin conferences.
