Doug Yakola  

Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company

Doug Yakola is a leader of McKinsey's RTS group and is based in Boston. He specializes in interim C-suite roles for distressed companies undergoing restructuring or other major transformation, and has significant experience with private equity portfolio companies.

Doug’s restructuring experience includes serving as CRO of an underperforming, $3 billion metals company. In this role, he led the transformation of the company’s cost structure, including a 27 percent reduction in general and administration spend, and a 10 percent run rate improvement in procurement spend.

He has served as CRO of a $3 billion mining company undergoing a divestiture—leading a rapid reduction its external, administrative, and capital expenditures. Other assignments include interim CFO of a major helicopter services company serving the oil and gas industry; and president and CRO of an international air cargo and logistics company undergoing a restructuring and sale of assets. Doug also served as a restructuring advisor and board member of a Brazil-based maintenance overhaul group, where he executed a turnaround plan and prepared the company for sale.

Doug was previously a senior advisor to MatlinPatterson, a private equity firm focused on distressed asset investing, and CFO of ATA Airlines, where he led the company through a bankruptcy.
