Emergency Medicine Physician & Author of "Why Do Men Have Nipples? Hundreds of Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Martini"

Dr. Billy Goldberg has been an emergency medicine physician for more than 20 years. He is an associate professor of emergency medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and the Vice Chairman of Strategic Planning and Business Operations in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He practices clinically in the emergency rooms at Bellevue Hospital Center and the New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Goldberg graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1992 after completing his undergraduate studies in Spanish Literature at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996 before returning to New York.

He has performed research and published on topics including trauma, cervical spine injury, pulmonary embolism, and resident education.

In addition to his full time work in emergency medicine, Dr. Goldberg has also published two New York Times bestselling books with comic-novelist Mark Leyner. Their first book, Why Do Men Have Nipples? Hundreds of Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Martini was published in August, 2005 and reached #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List where it remained for 11 weeks, it continued to be listed in the top five for another 17 weeks. The book has been published in 25 countries.

In August, 2006, Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex? More Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Whiskey Sour was published and also reached #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Their third book, Let’s Play Doctor, was published in January of 2009.

Dr. Goldberg's media appearances have run the gamut from 20/20, Good Morning America and The Today Show, to CNN’s Headline News, National Public Radio and The Howard Stern Show. For the past ten years, he can be heard on SiriusXM channel 110 hosting his own weekly radio show on the Doctor Radio channel.

Dr Goldberg’s other projects have included a monthly column for Best Life Magazine, a podcast turned blog with MSNBC, The Body Odd, and various other writings in magazines from Glamour to Reader’s Digest. In addition to his writing, Billy is an accomplished painter whose works are held in collections in New York, San Francisco, Sydney and Madrid.

He lives in New York City with his wife, Jessica, sons, Brody and Oliver and daughter, Lucy.
