Endocrinologist, Expert on Diabetes and Obesity & Chief Medical Officer of GENFIT

Dr. Carol Addy is the chief medical officer of GENFIT with over 30 years of experience working in the healthcare and wellness space. GENFIT is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic solutions in metabolic and liver related diseases.

Previously, she was the chief medical officer of HMR Weight Management Services Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc. In that role, she maintained clinical oversight of HMR programs and research-related activities to build upon the rich body of evidence that has supported the various HMR programs over the past 34 years.

Prior to her role at HMR, Dr. Addy led the clinical development of numerous investigational drugs during her 10 years with Merck Research Laboratories, working primarily in the areas of diabetes, obesity and women's health.

Dr. Addy graduated with honors from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, with a degree in visual art/biology and chemistry. She completed her medical degree studies and internal medical residency at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. She went on to complete a fellowship in endocrinology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, during which she received a master's of medical science degree from Harvard Medical School.

She is a former professional bicycle racer and former member of the USA Cycling National Team. In that capacity, she served as the health and fitness spokesperson for Weight Watchers Frozen Foods. Dr. Addy has ongoing interest in research pertaining to metabolism and obesity, is an active competitor in kettlebell sport competitions and is committed to sharing her passion for leading a healthy lifestyle with others.
