Dr. Chris Ashworth is a Global Research and Development Veterinarian for Zinpro Performance Minerals, based in Eden Prairie, MN. Dr. Ashworth is a 1987 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to obtaining his degree he was a dairy science major at LSU.

After veterinary school he completed a one-year large animal internship and then completed a three-year food animal medicine and surgery residency with an emphasis in internal medicine and infectious disease, all at the U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following his residency, he was an assistant professor for 2.5 years at the U of I, before joining Purina Mills Inc. at their research facility outside St. Louis, MO. Dr. Ashworth was the national dairy and beef technical veterinarian for 6 years with Purina Mills, being responsible for the bovine portion of their diagnostic laboratory and traveling the nation on herd investigations for the company.

In 1999 he joined Monsanto Dairy Business supporting Posilac- or rBST for dairy cattle. In 2009 Monsanto sold the business to Elanco Animal Health and Dr. Ashworth worked for Elanco for 9 years until joining Zinpro Performance Minerals in 2017. He is both in research and customer technical services working with the largest feedlot organizations and dairy organizations globally.

Dr. Ashworth has had an interest in veterinary toxicology of food animals for over 35 years. Today he is Co-Chair if the AAVLD and USAHA Committee on Toxicology, Nutrition and Environment.

Dr. Ashworth lives in Greenwood, AR and also owns a 200 head Registered Black Angus seed stock operation. Today Chris is responsible for research and development studies across a number of species from horses to cattle to companion animals for Zinpro Performance Minerals.
