Dr. Deidre Tyler    

Sociologist, Instructional Technologist, Fitness Expert & Professor at Salt Lake Community College

Being a black woman in Utah for the past 24 years has been an experience that Dr. Deidre Tyler will never forget. Dr. Tyler grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and attended the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University. She is a sociologist and an instructional technologist. She is a graduate of Utah State University in Instructional Technology.

She is the author of three books. The titles are as follows: "A Woman’s Guide to Setting Boundaries," "Our Corner of the World: Utah African American Women Tell Their Stories 1940-2002," and "More Like than Dislike: Race in America."

Dr. Tyler has taught for 24 years at Salt Lake Community College. She is also a fitness expert and is currently studying for her ACE certification.
