Dr. Ebony Butler's work as a Food Relationship Strategist is centered around providing education, tools, and skills for building a healthier relationship with food. Clients work with Butler to target ineffective thoughts, habits, and behaviors around food. Specifically, Butler creates coaching programs to address cultural and societal messages that have historically made it difficult for women of color to feel empowered enough to trust that they can care for their own bodies.
Dr. Butler is passionate about helping women survivors thrive in trauma recovery and show up in their bodies and lives in ways that they can be proud of. She has helped clients work through a number of issues related to PTSD, depression, anxiety, identity, body image, and other stress responses. She also specializes in guiding women to develop skills that increase their effectiveness in self-care and intra/interpersonal interactions, including communicating and asking for/getting what they want and need from themselves and from others.
In working with Dr. Butler, women are able to regain control of their health, weight, and body narratives while also feeling empowered to create health on their own terms. By intentionally rejecting practices based on diet culture, she teaches women to regain control of their bodies, health, and relationship with food in ways that allow them to break free from those cultural and societal messages that no longer serve them and their legacy.
Dr. Butler has created Taking Back My Body Programs, which are online coaching spaces where women can engage in community while reconnecting to their bodies and building healthier relationships with food. Dr. Butler is the author of the book, "Food is Not Bae" and host of the podcast by the same name. The book and podcast serve as platforms where Dr. Butler can further teach and engage with women around issues that impact their relationship with food and their bodies.
Dr. Butler serves as a speaker on topics related to identity development, trauma recovery, self-care, relationship with food, and body image. In her role as a consultant, Dr. Butler strategizes with companies and organizations on how to bring and build mental health and food relationship programs for their staff and employees.
