Pediatric Surgeon at Phoenix Children's Hospital & Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine

Dr. Erin M. Garvey is a board-certified pediatric surgeon at Phoenix Children's Hospital and a pioneer in her field, being the first pediatric surgery fellow trained at the same institution. Beyond her hands-on role in the operating room, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, a Clinical Scholar Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Creighton University.

Garvey's surgical specialty is minimally invasive surgery for infants and children, with a particular interest in multidisciplinary care for colorectal patients and patients with spina bifida. This focus extends to her research activities, as she actively involves herself in clinical pediatric surgical research projects and prospective randomized controlled trials at Phoenix Children's Hospital. In addition, she represents PCH in the international Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Learning Consortium (PCPLC). She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Pediatric Surgical Association.

Garvey's approach to patient care is deeply centered around the families she serves, emphasizing the importance of understanding the care plan for each patient. This compassionate approach is combined with her extensive educational background - graduating summa cum laude from the University of Denver and earning her doctorate of medicine from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, where she was also selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.
