Dr. Gianni DeVincenti Hayes

 Dr. Hayes has earned her Ph.D S umma cum Laude in English, creative writing and world/comparative literature studies from the University of Maryland College Park, with a concentration in the humanities (religion, history, politics, philosophy, African-American literature, and art). Both her masters were earned at DuquesneUniversity, also with high honor in scientific research, and educational administration and technology. Her bachelor’s degree was granted from GannonUniversity in biology/chemistry, where she was honored with The Distinguished Alumni Award. Additionally, she attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years in communications where she earned The Letter of Highest Commendation, and has been endowed to the University of Rochester’s writing program for five summers, as well as to MiddleburyCollege’s prestigious Bread Loaf Writing Program.  

Hayes has been writing since 1978; she composes pieces under several pen names, has over 100 articles and short stories published in major newspapers and national magazines, such as Woman’s Day, Redbook, US, People, Brides, Parade, Writers Digest, Curriculum Innovations, and many others, including  books published by royalty houses, and others in electronic form.  Research is her area of expertise, and biographies and current events topics are subjects of experience for her.  She has appeared in nation-wide newspapers and magazines, and on dozens of national radio and television shows, including A & E Biography, The History Channel,and Pennsylvania Cable Network TV comprised of 145 stations statewide, and nine million viewers.  

Hayes speaks internationally on globalism, as well as a guest speaking on cruises, and is an internationally recognized author, recipient of many tributes, for mer college professor and depart ment chair, and author of 19 novels and nonfiction books.  Two of her books are supplementary grammar texts, which are in their sixth printing, and used worldwide.

She also writes screenplays, one of which had been optioned for a movie. She is a print and an online and syndicated columnist for 22 newspapers, nationally and internationally.  Additionally, she hosts a live radio show on The A merican Voice Station (www.thea mericanvoice.com), on Wednesdays from 8:00-10:00pm EST, which features noted authors, celebrities, politicians, and others, and is heard worldwide as well as on AM/FM stations nationwide, various radio bands, on the internet, on short wave, satellite and podcasts, and downloadable on Ipods, Ipads, and cell phones; her show ranks in the top tier.  Many of her guests have been noted personalities, such as TV news correspondent and author, Bernard Goldberg, along with Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes, Judge Napolitano, Congressman Kucinich, Phyllis Schafaly, Brad O’Leary of the O’Leary Report, Terri Schiavo’s parents, Mel Gibson’s family, various noted international pastors, and many others. Dr. Hayes also has expertise in eschatology which combines religion, politics, philosophy and history with Bible prophecy, and she founded The Writers Bloc, Inc in 1992.  She has been the honored guest at many authors’ receptions, as well as having been featured in Contemporary Authors encyclopedia, nominated for the Governor’s Award of Writing by a state senator, a state delegate, an area council president, and several high-profile people, and was honored at her undergraduate college for Women’s History Month 2003 where she gave a campus-wide presentation.  She also has been unanimously voted into her high school Hall of Fame Award for Distinguished Alumni where she flew to Pittsburgh to be inducted. G ianni ( Nan) DeVincent Hayes, Ph.D has been honored by her doctoral school alma mater, The University of Maryland College Park, by setting up an archive of her papers, in her name, in the University Libraries.  The collection will consist of her books, various manuscripts, the instructional materials she created and used as a former college department chair and associate professor, her business reports, and other writings, as well as personal correspondences she has had with other authors and people of note.  The Papers of Dr. Gianni DeVincent Hayes are carefully maintained within the University of Maryland Libraries, residing in the Literary Manuscripts unit of Special Collections and can be viewed in the Maryland Room in the R.
