Dr. Jarushka Naidoo

Assistant Professor of Oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center; Recipient of LCFA Young Investigator Grant

Dr. Jarushka Naidoo is an Assistant Professor of Oncology and attending physician at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University, and specializes in the field of lung cancer and immunotherapy.

Dr. Naidoo obtained her medical degree from Trinity College in Dublin Ireland, and is originally from Durban in South Africa. She completed her internal medicine and medical oncology training in Ireland, followed by an advanced medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, prior to joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Naidoo is devoted to providing the best possible care for her patients with lung and thoracic cancers. She has a special research interest in clinical trials of combinations of immunotherapies for the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic cancers, as well as the side effects of immunotherapies for cancer, why these happen, and how they can be best managed. She serves on US national guidelines (NCCN) for the management of immune-related toxicity, and runs an institutional multidisciplinary team for immune toxicity at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Naidoo’s project for the LCFA/IASLC/BMS Young Investigator grant in immuno-oncology aims to identify whether a patient’s gut microbiome is implicated in their ability to derive benefit, or develop toxicity, from anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy in lung cancer.
