Judy Robertson is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland and holds a PhD in educational technology from the University of Edinburgh. She has been an active researcher in the field of game-based learning for ten years, with over 20 international peer reviewed publications in educational technology. Her preliminary research in game authoring for children recently won an Association for Educational Communications and Technology/Springer award for 'Theory into practice' in the USA.

Dr. Robertson is the principle investigator of Adventure Author, a £250,000 Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council-funded research project which is investigating the development of creativity through computer game authoring. Dr. Robertson has led many game design workshops for teachers and children, such as the Edinburgh International Science Festival, and has been an invited speaker on the topic at various public events.
