Dr. Karen M. Walker is a well decorated Marine Corps officer with a distinguished military career that includes 3 combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is an expert in organizational psychology, an author, and advocate for diversity and change as she strives to improve the transition experience for veterans. Dr. Walker has an extensive background in government and corporate industries, academia, as well as an entrepreneur herself. Her experiences range from the Department of Defense, U.S. Secret Service, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Synergy Learning Institute 501(c)(3), Final Notice Investigative Services Group, University of New Mexico and University of the Rockies; along with co-authoring, one of Inc. Magazine's Top 60 Leadership books for women, "Leading by my Ponytail: Why Can't I Wear Pink and Be President?".

Dr. Walker also gives her time to many non-profit organizations that engage and enrich veteran women and the community. In 2017, she started a professional development program for women veterans called Combat Boots to Heels through Synergy Learning Institute, a nonprofit vocational college. The program helps women veterans in any stage of their transition from the military measuring where they are and helping them build a confident path towards wherever they want to be.
