Dr Lawrence Gelman  

Author of "The Fall from Grace"; Texas Anesthesiologist; Conservative

Dr. Lawrence R. Gelman was born in Chicago 1951. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in History in 1976, and an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1982. Dr. Gelman completed residency in anesthesiology in 1986 from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. He is board certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. Dr. Gelman began private practice in anesthesiology in McAllen, Texas in 1986 and continues in that capacity to this day. One of the founders of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, a 503 bed acute care facility, he was its CEO for 7 years, until 2012, and is presently a member of the board of governors as well as the chief of anesthesiology. Husband to Maria Esperanza Gelman Mata for a happy 34 years and counting, they are the proud parents of Alexander, Zina, Sharon and Rachel and in-laws to Zina’s husband, John Bash. In Dr. Gelman’s own word’s about “The Fall From Grace”, “In our struggle against the tyranny of hospital corporations I came to experience the ideals of independence, liberty and freedom espoused by the Founding Fathers and subsequently came to the unfortunate realization that when dealing with government that today’s government is not heir to George Washington, but rather to George the Third, and that in the battle between David and Goliath government sides with Goliath.”
