Dr. Manoj Krishna

Former Surgeon, Author of "Understanding Me, Understanding You" & Founder of Human Wisdom

Dr. Manoj Krishna worked as a spine surgeon for 25 years. He left the profession early to set up the HumanWisdom Project, to help reduce suffering and help each person shine in the world. He is the author of two books, "Understanding Me, Understanding You" and "Stress Free".

The HumanWisdom App for adults was launched in 2023. The app for teenagers will launch this autumn. He believes that understanding ourselves & how our minds work awakens our inner intelligence, which leads to wisdom, and this can lead to transformation. This understanding can prevent and more easily address many problems which begin in our thinking: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship breakdown, violence, addiction, and climate change.

A deeper self-awareness can also help with the development of soft skills like critical thinking, collaboration, communication, leadership, integrity, courage, resilience and empathy, all of which are vital for organizations to flourish.

By realizing that deep down we are the same human being, we can live with compassion, goodness, and a sense of peace. By understanding ourselves, we can understand others better, leading to fulfilling relationships. Rather than just deal with the symptoms of stress, this approach uncovers the root of it in our thinking, and can end it completely.

Krishna has spoken at over 50 offline events and a few hundred virtual events on the topics of emotional intelligence, leadership, communication skills, mental health, stress and anxiety, relationships, addiction, understanding your ego, and more.

Speech Topics

Leadership

Leadership begins with ourselves and our ability to manage our own emotions, mental health, and our relationships. It then extends to leading other people. The list of skills leaders need is very long, and it is no wonder more than half fail in 2 years(CEB).

Every leadership skill is enhanced by a deeper self-awareness and an understanding of how the mind works. This includes empathy communication and relationship skills, courage, critical thinking and clear decision making, being able to manage your own mental health, deal with loneliness and stress, and inspire others around you to embrace your vision and flourish in their careers.

Education

We educate young people only about the world around them but not themselves. This lack of self-understanding is responsible for the large numbers who suffer:

  • Anxiety (30%).
  • Stress (80%).
  • Mental health problems (25%).
  • Addiction (10-15%).
  • Relationship problems (more than 50%).
  • Struggle with social media ( 35%).

This self-understanding can be easily taught and can not only prevent the problems listed above, but also results in emotional intelligence. Scientists say 80% of success is down to EQ(Emotional intelligence) and only 20% to IQ.

Organizational Productivity

Gallup estimates that 67% of employees are disengaged and this costs companies globally $7.8 trillion. Further, companies with higher engagement are 22% more profitable. Why are employees unhappy? It could be factors linked to work, or to their personal lives. By helping staff to be more self-aware, we can help people be happier, manage their own mental health, have happier relationships, and develop a positive attitude - all of which can lead to happier staff who are more engaged. It can also help train managers to be more empathetic and responsive to the emotional needs and challenges of the people they lead. This can also help with staff retention - happier staff who work under empathetic managers are more likely to stick on to their jobs."

Mental Health

All mental health problems begin in our thinking, in how our mind automatically reacts to its challenges. A deeper understanding of our unconscious conditioning influences, which is where our reactions come from, and a better understanding of how our mind works, allows us to prevent and more easily address them. This can help deal with the many challenges we face:

  • Stress(80%).
  • Anxiety (30%).
  • Depression (10%).
  • Substance abuse (16%).
  • Self-harm (17% in young people).

The US Surgeon General estimates 76% of employees have a mental health problem. This can also help reduce the rising suicide rates. This self-understanding is simple, but the impact can be profound.

Diversity and Inclusion

According to Forbes most Diversity and Inclusion programs fail to shift the culture in organizations. These are vital in boosting productivity, innovation, retention, and engagement. There are many reasons attributed to this - but one that is often overlooked is that they rarely address the root cause - which is our unconscious conditioning influences, which shape our thinking, our beliefs, and our prejudices. A single lecture, or workshop is perhaps not enough to bring transformation. But an app in your pocket 24/7 which helps you meet daily life challenges using a deeper self-understanding, including that of your conditioning, has a much better chance of wider adoption and engagement.
