Dr. Natalie Strand          

Director of Pain Research & Physician at Mayo Clinic; Former Winner of "The Amazing Race"

Dr. Natalie H. Strand is the Director of Pain Research and the Director of Neuromodulation for Mayo Clinic Arizona, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Pain Medicine. Board certified in anesthesiology and fellowship-trained in interventional pain management, Dr. Strand uses a comprehensive approach incorporating interventional techniques, medication, lifestyle modification, exercise, and psychology. A type 1 diabetic, she is passionate about helping to improve the quality of life for those who are living with diabetes, chronic pain, or any other chronic illness.

Dr. Strand has brought her expertise to the media, as an on-camera medical correspondent for dLife Television, CNN/HLN, the "Rachel Ray Show", "EXTRA!," and several local news stations and radio programs. She has worked extensively with JDRF for community education and children's advocacy, and given keynote lectures at over 25 conferences. Along with her friend Dr. Kat Chang, she won the 17th season of CBS' "The Amazing Race," the first all-female team to do so.

Dr. Strand graduated from the University of Arizona, and earned her medical degree from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She holds leadership positions with three different pain societies, teaches several times a year at national conferences, and is active in training the Mayo Clinic Pain Medicine Fellows.
