Dr. Tjeu Blommaert
Owner, Blommaert Enterprise; Business Expert
Dr. Tjeu Blommaert was born in Susteren where he spent his childhood and attended primary school. After his secondary education in Sittard, he studied Business Administration in Tilburg. At 21, he became the youngest teacher after finishing his degree. He taught commercial sciences, business administration, economics, statistics and economic technical phenomena at various institutes including the Diocesan College in Sittard, the HEAO Sittard, the SPD in Heerlen, and the Catholic College in Tilburg. In 1986 he was accepted at the University of Maastricht to study financial information. His thesis was entitled "Additional Disclosure Triple-entry and Momentum Accounting," earning his doctorate in 1994. In 1996, he was appointed Professor of Management Accounting & Control.
Throughout his teaching and academic career, Professor Blommaert has written dozens of books, most of them in collaboration with his brother Jos Blommaert, a professor at the University of Tilburg. His career was particularly shaped by his appointment as CFO in 2000 and later as CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Teleplan International in Frankfurt. In 2001 he was appointed commissioner at the marketing research firm EMIS. Blommaert has at present about seven advisory positions in SMEs.
He is the director of Blommaert Enterprise with offices in Maastricht and Willemstad Curacao (the latter under the name CIBA: Caribbean International Business Academy) at FoedererDFK, a medium-sized accounting and consulting firm with several offices in the Netherlands and headquartered in Eindhoven.
Tjeu Blommaert is often a guest speaker at seminars and conferences. At the request of these companies, he trains and inspires management teams at home and abroad. Through his scientific knowledge, practical experience and business insights, he knows what he has to offer his audiences. His speeches blend unique insights, practical applications, passion and humor.
