Self-reflection brings perspective to our lives. It helps us learn, grow, appreciate and understand. Taking the time for reflection is a bit of a lost art. Most of us, unfortunately, are living unexamined lives. Simply put, self-reflection is taking the time to think about, meditate on, evaluate, and give serious thought to your behaviors, thoughts, attitudes, motivations, and desires. The process of diving deeply into your thoughts and emotions and motivations and determining the great, “Why?” behind them.

Blueprint for Empowerment

Do you know what makes people feel invincible?...Power - the ability to make decisions for themselves, and sometimes others, that influence outcome or recognition. Empowering your team does two essential things that allow you to be more effective: Thing 1: By empowering your team you build intrinsic and extrinsic confidence in their ability to execute collective missions and goals which strengthens their trust in the organization. Thing 2: Creates the secondary level of leadership necessary when you are not present for key decisions so that your team, and the organization, can continue to be productive.

Why are these important? Because no one leads an organization to success on their own. The first one - building confidence in your team's abilities - will show throughout their work and interactions. The second one - secondary leadership - is a tribute to the continued development of leaders.

Empowering your team: As a leader, learning to empower your team is a matter or discernment and trust. It is not a casual act for a leader and will require a continuous, and comprehensive, of analysis and observation to gauge its effectiveness. So, to wrap this up, empowerment creates a healthy, positive, and ultimately successful organization - one in which there is individual ownership of the vision and trust in leadership.

Communication Controls the Culture

Good communication skills are considered to be the most essential skills a leader must have. Effective leadership and effective communication are closely intertwined. An effective leader is a leader who has the ability to take charge of, direct, and motivate others. Here's the catch: communicating well is to be understood, but it is also the ability to understand. Poor communication skills can lead to discourse and frustration among a team, which can cause detrimental setbacks. Not every situation, or leadership style requires the same level of communication skill, but the effectiveness should be level across the board.

Don't Forget: Communication is a two-lane road: listening is just as important as hearing yourself speak - if not more important. Actively listening to the other party involved in conversation allows you to have a more open and effective exchange. Knowing when to pause and allow the other party to speak is a powerful skill that shows respect and willingness to hear another viewpoint and really dive into it.
