Dr. Travis Stork

New York Times Best-Selling Healthy Lifestyle Author; Emergency Room Physician; and Host, The Doctors

Dr. Travis Stork is an Emmy-nominated co-host of the award-winning talk show, The Doctors, and a practicing board-certified emergency medicine physician. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and earned his M.D. with honors from the University of Virginia, being elected into the prestigious honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha for outstanding academic achievement.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Stork never anticipated working on television. However, after he was approached by a casting director for The Bachelor, Dr. Stork ultimately took the plunge and appeared as The Bachelor during its eighth season in Paris. The experience made him realize the power of television and its incredible reach, and after appearing regularly as a medical expert on Dr. Phil, he was selected by executive producer Jay McGraw to co-host The Doctors.

A fervent believer in helping patients feel empowered when it comes to their health, Dr. Stork practices what he preaches and likes to teach by example. Dr. Stork bikes to work every day, rain or shine. While he doesnt expect individuals to give up their cars, he is passionate about enlightening individuals on simple ways to attain and maintain good health based on their own life and circumstances. He believes that oftentimes, when people come to the E.R., its already too late. Thats why he takes such pride in teaching people how to avoid preventable illness before it happens. Most people dont realize that they make 200-plus health-related decisions every day that dictate how well and how long they live. Dr. Stork believes health is not about the gym or a deprivation diet. Health is achieved by focusing on those seemingly inconsequential 200-plus decisions people make throughout the day.

The self-described adrenaline junkie greatly enjoys his work in the E.R. because he never knows whats going to be coming through the door. It is an incredibly challenging environment because anything can happen during a shift in the E.R. He has seen things beyond imagination. But in the end, its an honor for him to apply the skills he has learned to help people in their time of crisis.

An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Stork is a devotee of mountain and road biking, whitewater kayaking and hiking with his dog, Nala. He is a motivational speaker on the topic of health and wellness and is on the Medical Advisory Board for Men's Health magazine, in addition to having a monthly column in the magazine. He is The New York Times bestselling author of The Lean Belly Prescription and The Doctor Is In: A 7-Step Prescription for Optimal Wellness.

The Doctors, entering its fifth season this September 2012, won the 2010 Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative and has been nominated in the category every year since its inception in 2008. In addition, Dr. Stork and his co-hosts on The Doctors received consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2011 and 2012.
