Dr. Pande is a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, where he leads the firm’s investments focused on the cross section of biology and computer science including areas such as machine learning /compute in medicine (e.g., Freenome, Cardiogram, TwoXAR, BioAge), major game changing scientific advances (e.g., Apeel, Rigetti), and ways to fundamentally improve how health care is performed (e.g. Patient Ping, Q.bio, Omada Health).

A visionary leading the convergence of biology and computer science, Dr. Pande is the founder of the Folding@home Distributed Computing Project for disease research which pushes the boundaries of the development and application of computer science techniques (such as distributed systems, machine learning, and exotic computer architectures) into biology and medicine, in both fundamental research as well as the development of new therapeutics. In translating these advances, he has also been a founder and advisor to many startups in Silicon Valley.

Over the years he has been the recipient of many awards for his work, including being named a Frederick E. Terman Fellow in 2002, an award recipient of MIT's TR100, the Henry and Camile Dreyfus Teacher_Scholar award in 2003, a Technovator award from Global Indus Technovators in 2004, the Irving Sigal Young Investigator Award from the Protein Society in 2006, Netxplorateur of 2008, the Thomas Kuhn Paradigm Shift Award in 2008 the Michael and Kate Bárány Award in 2012 and the DeLano Award for Computational Biosciences in 2015. In addition, he is the second person ever to win both the Protein Society Young Investigator Award and the Biophysical Society Young Investigator Award.
