Co-Inventor of Blockchain

Scott Stornetta is the co-inventor of blockchain technology. In 1991 he and Stuart Haber came up with the idea of a cryptographically secured chain of blocks. They then used Merkle trees into the design to allow documents to be collected in a block.

Stornetta studied at Stanford University and after graduation he spent many years in research and cryptography.

In 1994, Stornetta and Haber co-founded the company Surety, which provided digital time stamping services using the first version of blockchain.
