Drew Benson joined Bloomberg News in Buenos Aires in July 2008 as a markets reporter, covering Argentine debt and foreign exchange. He relocated to New York in May to cover bond sales in Latin America. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Drew covered energy, economics, markets and politics with Dow Jones Newswires in Buenos Aires, arriving in 2004. Before that he worked for The Associated Press in Lima, Peru, where he lived for five years. Drew has an MA in journalism from the University of Maryland and a BS in economics from the University of Delaware. Before becoming a journalist, Drew served as an active duty officer in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Captain. He grew up in Maryland.
