Duncan Wood  

Director, Mexico Institute, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars

Duncan Wood is director of the Mexico Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. Before that he was full professor and director of the international relations program at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) in Mexico City, where he worked for 17 years. Between 2007 and 2009 he was technical secretary of the Red Mexicana de Energia, a group of experts in the area of energy policy. Wood has been a senior energy consultant with the Mexico Institute and a senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. He is a founding board member of Deport-es para Compartir, a Mexican charitable organization teaching children through sports and games. He is also on the boards of Medicos Sin Fronteras (Mexico y Centroamerica), Arena Ciudadana and U.S.-Mexico Focus. Wood received his Ph.D. in political studies from Queen's University, Canada.
