Dwayne Wade

NBA All-Star & Miami Heat Guard

Three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade grew up in Chicago and was a star player for Marquette University before becoming the 5th overall NBA draft pick in 2003. In his first year with the Miami Heat, Dwyane was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He would go on to lead the Heat to their first NBA Championship in franchise history in 2006 while being named the NBA Finals MVP. Dwyane and the Heat won their second and third NBA World Championships in back-to-back years 2012 and 2013 alongside his teammates, LeBron James and Chris Bosh, together creating Miami’s “BIG 3.” For nearly two years, Dwyane had the top selling NBA jersey while in 2010 becoming the first player in NBA history to accumulate at least 2,000 points, 500 assists, 100 steals, and 100 blocks in a single season. Dwyane is also a ten-time NBA All Star, a two-time Olympic medalist, a Sportsman of the Year, and the winner of the 2009 NBA Scoring Title.

Dwyane is well known off the court as well through his philanthropic involvement in various organizations. In 2003, he established The Wade’s World Foundation, which provides support to community-based organizations that promote education, health, and social skills for children in at-risk situations. Dwyane was inspired to start the foundation because he wanted to give back to underserved communities and support issues of purpose. “I can’t just let basketball define who I am and what I am supposed to become,” said Wade. “Like my mother always tells me, ‘My life is bigger than basketball.’” He also hosts a variety of community outreach programs in Chicago and South Florida.
