Eamonn Store

The Guardian

The Guardian US has appointed Eamonn Store as CEO, the company announced on Tuesday.

Store joins The Guardian from the media agency MEC where he was president of agency development. He starts on Sept. 2, the same day as incoming Editor-in-Chief Katharine Viner who succeeds Janine Gibson, now executive editor of digital for the entire Guardian online operation. Store replaces Michael Bloom as CEO, who left the company in January.

"(Store) brings a wealth of experience of the US and UK media markets and a strong understanding of our brand positioning and opportunities for growth in the US," Deputy CEO David Pemsel said in a statement. "His arrival, on the same day as incoming editor-in-chief, Katharine Viner, marks the start of a new phase for the hugely admired and respected US operation, and together they will drive ongoing development of the Guardian’s US offering as it reaches an ever-wider audience across America.”

The CEO news comes a week after The Guardian announced it is planning an expansion to a West Coast office, with the aim of accelerating "its commercial and digital presence, leveraging business and technology links in Silicon Valley and other parts of California."
