Ed McCaffrey
Head Football Coach at University of Northern Colorado; Former NFL Wide Receiver & Co-Founder of Dare to Play Football Camp For Children with Down Syndrome
Edward Thomas McCaffrey was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and established himself as one of football’s most victorious and outstanding wide receivers during his 13-year career in the National Football League. Playing for the New York Giants (1991–1993), San Francisco 49ers (1994) and the Denver Broncos (1995–2003), McCaffrey won three Super Bowl rings in Super Bowls XXIX, XXXII and XXXIII and was selected to start in the 1998 Pro Bowl.
In Denver he set a then-Broncos record for most receptions in a season with 101 catches in 2000. McCaffrey retired in 2004 as one of just 31 players in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with two different teams (S.F. & Denver), and one of only 13 to win one in each conference. He entered the NFL in 1991 as a third-round draft choice of the New York Giants (No. 83 overall) out of Stanford.
McCaffrey played high school football at Allentown Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Ed played college football at Stanford University in California, and as a senior in 1990 was an All-American. While at Stanford, Ed met his wife Lisa and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Continuing his love of football, McCaffrey is the Head Football Coach at Valor Christian High School and runs summer Football Camps including the award-winning Dare-toPlay Camp for athletes with Down Syndrome.
McCaffrey also serves as Commissioner and Co-Founder of the new Pacific Pro Football League.
He and his wife Lisa are the parents of four boys, and are very active in the community through their foundation, which strives to improve the lives of children, particularly in Colorado.
