Former Professional Hockey Player & Former Head Coach for Pittsburg Penguins, Hall of Fame Member & Lead Analyst for NHL on NBC

U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member and former NHL player and coach Eddie Olczyk is the lead analyst for NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the NHL. Olczyk works alongside Mike “Doc” Emrick (play-by-play) and “Inside the Glass” reporter Pierre McGuire. In addition to his regular season role, which includes Wednesday Night Hockey games on NBCSN, the NHL Game of the Week on NBC, the Winter Classic and the NHL Stadium Series, Olczyk also serves as an analyst for the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final, as well as NBC’s coverage of men’s and women’s hockey at the Olympics.

Olczyk is also the lead analyst for the Chicago Blackhawks games on NBC Sports Chicago.

“Eddie is a tremendous communicator and utilizes his playing and coaching experience as a broadcaster in a way that serves both the hardcore hockey fan, as well as the casual fan,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer, NBC Sports and NBCSN.

In June of 2014, Olczyk added horse racing to his list of assignments, when he joined NBC Sports Group’s Triple Crown horse racing coverage as a handicapper and analyst. A life-long horse racing enthusiast, Olczyk shares his passion and expertise across NBC Sports Group’s robust horse racing coverage throughout the year.

Olczyk played 16 seasons in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. Following his playing career, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins game broadcasts for Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh, and provided analysis for ESPN, ESPN2 and NHL Radio. Olczyk was head coach of the Penguins from 2003-05.

Olczyk scored 342 goals and recorded 794 points in 1,031 career games with the Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings. The third overall selection in the 1984 Entry Draft, he was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic hockey team and represented the U.S. in many international competitions.

Olczyk and his wife, Diana, live in Illinois with their four children.
