Edna Hendershot was a detective in Westminster, Colorado, and was one of the two detectives who worked on the serial rape investigation that inspired the Pulitzer Prize-winning article "An Unbelievable Story of Rape," and the Netflix show "Unbelievable." Hendershot had already worked more than 200 rape cases at this point in her career, and it was her and Stacy Galbraith’s work that finally identified the serial rapist back in 2008.

Even after the case depicted in “Unbelievable” was closed, Hendershot has stayed in touch the victims, according to a CBS “48 Hours” special from 2017. She was later promoted to sergeant in the Westminster Police Department, and is listed as being part of the Adamas, Broomfield, and Aurora region’s Crisis Intervention Teams Association of Colorado.
