Edward Abramson, Ph.D., is the author of "It's NOT Just Baby Fat: 10 Steps to Help Your Child to a Healthy Weight." A clinical psychologist in Lafayette, California, Abramson gives workshops and talks on emotional eating, weight control, and eating disorders throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
A formerly fat kid and overweight adult, he knows that it's easier to prevent obesity in childhood than it is to lose weight as an adult. He enjoys teaching parents how to help their kids maintain a healthy weight without increasing the risk of an eating disorder. Dr. Abramson is the author of four previous books including "Body Intelligence" and "Emotional Eating" as well as many scientific studies of obesity and eating disorders.
Dr. Abramson has appeared on dozens of television and radio programs including 20/20, Hard Copy and Joan Rivers. He is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at California State University and former Director of the Eating Disorders Center at Chico Community Hospital.

With a better body image it will be easier to make the changes necessary for permanent weight loss. This presentation will help you overcome your bad feelings and show you how to develop a healthy respect for your body.

6 Laws of Permanent Weight Loss
Overview: Using self-assessment tools presented in this workshop, you will learn how to get off the dieting roller coaster, conquer food cravings, overcome exercise resistance, and beat the tendency to retreat and regain. In this three hour workshop you will develop a personalized (one size does NOT fit all), step-by-step action plan to give-up yo-yo dieting, lose weight and feel good about your body.

- Acceptance and guilt-free understanding of past dieting failures

Overcoming Emotional Eating
Overview: Whether it takes the form of an uncontrolled eating binge or just unnecessary snacking, emotional eating causes weight gain, guilty feelings, and undermines any efforts to lose weight. In this presentation Dr. Abramson will share real-life examples and show you how to accurately assess your unique patterns. You’ll learn practical methods for changing these habits and find out how to nurture yourself without eating.

Help Your Child Develop Healthy Eating and Activity Habits
Parents often are concerned about their children’s eating habits and lack of physical activity but knowing how to help children develop healthy eating and activity habits can be tricky. Do you forbid junk food and snacks? Make the child eat vegetables? Limit TV viewing and computer use? This entertaining presentation will show you how eating and activity patterns develop. You’ll learn how to guide your child to healthy habits without creating a battle of wills or risking an eating disorder.
