Edward P. Joseph

Senior Fellow & Lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies

Edward P. Joseph combines the mindset of a Washington-based policy academic with the experience of field practitioner -- a former US Army officer and UN official who has worked on the ground in some of the most intractable conflicts for fifteen years.

A decade-long lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Senior Fellow at the School's highly-respected think-tank, the Foreign Policy Institute, Joseph is prized for his ability to decode succinctly and clearly complex standoffs across the globe.

Joseph is among the the most widely recognized Americans in the Middle East, thanks to his frequent commentary on Aljazeera and Alhurra, as well as on the widely watched WION network in India. He has been honored for his work during and after the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Joseph holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and the School of Advanced International Studies, respectively. He was a helicopter pilot in the US Army Reserve.
