Edward Rollins  

Political Strategist & Analyst; Republican Campaign Consultant

Edward Rollins is a veteran political analyst and campaign manager. His successes in the political arena began as far back as his victory run for student body president at California State University, Chico. His 40-year career as a political strategist serves as an inspiration to the students of CSU Chico.

Mr. Rollins has served four United States Presidents. He was in charge of the White House Office of Political Affairs and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs as well as serving as the deputy chief of staff during the Reagan administration. In 1984, he managed President Ronald Reagan's landslide reelection campaign, winning 49 of 50 states. He has had managerial roles in nine other presidential campaigns and was inducted into the Political Consultants Hall of Fame in 2011.

Mr. Rollins has distinguished himself as a student, an athlete, and a political force to be reckoned with. He is an internationally renowned public and corporate relations strategist and well-known political commentator. He is the senior presidential fellow at Hofstra University's Center for the Study of the American Presidency in New York, and chairman of the Rollins Strategy Group, a communications and crisis management firm.

Mr. Rollins works for Fox News as a senior political analyst. He appears regularly on Meet the Press, This Week, Face the Nation, Nightline, The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, Hardball, Crossfire, Larry King Live, CNN News Makers, and many other talk shows. His memoir, Bare Knuckles and Back Rooms, was the number-one selling political book in America in 1996 and made the top of the New York Times best-seller list.

He earned his AA at Vallejo Junior College and transferred to CSU Chico in 1965. He earned his BA in political science in 1968. Mr. Rollins was a member of the prestigious "Block C" athletic letterman's society and helped coach the varsity boxing team to the National College Boxing Championship.

In recognition of his professional accomplishments and political acumen, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University, Chico are proud to confer upon Edward Rollins the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
