An active member of the National Speakers Association, Edward E. Scannell has given more than a thousand presentations, seminars and workshops across the US and in several overseas venues.

Equally involved in both civic and professional organizations, Ed has served on the Boards of a number of groups including the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), the Convention Industry Council (CIC), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the National Speakers Association (NSA) and the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.

He was elected as ASTD's National President in 1982 and later served a two year term as the Executive Chairman of the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations. He is the recipient of the Gordon M. Bliss Award, ASTD's highest individual honor.

He has written or co-authored twenty books and over a hundred articles in the fields of Creativity, Communication, HRD, Management, Meeting Planning and Teambuilding. His Games Trainers Play series (McGraw-Hill) have sold over a million copies and are used by trainers, speakers, facilitators, and meeting planners around the globe.

A past President of MPI's Arizona Sunbelt Chapter and its 1986 "Planner of the Year", Ed was elected as MPI's Intl. President in 1988-89. He served as Vice Chairman of the MPI Foundation and also as Dean of the MPI Institute Program. In 1995, he was named as MPI's International Planner of the Year, MPI's highest award. He was selected as one of only seven Chancellors in 2002 and later served as its Chairman.

He earned his CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation in 1986 and currently serves on the CIC- CMP Board of Directors. He was inducted into the CIC Hall of Leaders in 2007.

The 1987-88 President of the Arizona Speakers Assn. and a two-time recipient of the National President's Award, Ed was elected as NSA's National President in 1991-92. He earned his CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) in 1986. He also served as NSA's Executive Vice President in 1997 and received NSA's highest individual award, the "Cavett" in 1999. He was named a "Legend in the Speaking Profession" in 2006.

Formerly the Director of the University Conference Bureau at Arizona State University, Ed also taught at the ASU College of Business and previously at the University of Northern Iowa. He is currently the Director of the Center for Professional Development and Training in Scottsdale, AZ.

A frequent speaker at meeting industry events, Ed has presented programs for such groups as ASAE, ASTD, HSMAI, MPI, PCMA, RCMA, SGMP and TSEA. A skilled facilitator, he has conducted numerous strategic planning retreats for both Trade and Professional Associations.

As recognition of these activities, Ed is listed in numerous "Who's Who" directories such as Leaders in Education, Who's Who in the West, The Dictionary of International Biography, Men of Achievement and the Cambridge Who's Who.
