Elina Hiltunen has been listed as one of worlds 50 leading futurists in Forbes.

Hiltunen has an extensive experience in anticipating and innovating the futures.

Her experience includes futures in general; especially tools for futures thinking, megatrends, weak signals, future of technology and consumer trends.

Hiltunen is an inspiring speaker who has years of experience in public speaking in Finland and other countries (in Finnish and in English).

Hiltunen is a writer of 11 books. A book "Foresight and Innovation: How Companies are Coping with the Future" (in Finnish: Matkaopas tulevaisuuteen), is a book about strategic foresight. It was published in Finnish by Talentum in spring 2012 and in English by Palgrave , Oct/2013.

Hiltunen has also written a book about the Future of Technology in 2035 with her husband; Kari Hiltunen, who is Dr.Tech. by education. The book was published in 2014 in Finnish by Talentum and in English (2015) by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Hiltunen has written also books about consumer trends (2017) and megatrends (2019). These books are currently available only in Finnish.

Hiltunen does not only talk about innovations, she creates them herself: she has been developing tools for futures thinking, like Futures Windows and Strategic Serendipity. She is also a coinventor of TrendWiki tool – a tool for crowdsourcing the futures in organizations. She has also created a project called Tiedettä tytöille (Science for Girls) that aims to encourage girls to study STEM.

Hiltunen's other interest is in the field of crochet. She has been a free-lancer amigurumi designer for Novita. In November 2012 she published her first book in the field of crocheting. She has made altogether three books about amigurumis.

She has also written a children's book about computational thinking with her own children in 2015. The second book about computational thinking was published in 2016 and the third book about Scratch was published in spring 2017.
