Elisabeth Röhm was born in Germany to American writer Lisa Loverde and Eberhard Röhm, a partner at the law firm of Duane Morris LLP New York. They relocated to New York City near Elisabeth's first birthday. An equestrian enthusiast, Elisabeth began competing professionally at the age of 5. She cultivated southern roots at St. Andrews Sewanee, a boarding school in Tennessee, later achieving an A average, majoring in European History (specifically related to the Second World War) with minors in theater and writing at Sarah Lawrence College.
Her first break in television came in a contracted role on "One Life to Live," then starring opposite Kyle MacLachlan in "The Invisible Man" pilot. Next, she worked in England as a regular on the BBC series, "Eureka Street," followed shortly by her recurring role on the American series "Angel". Elisabeth soon juggled performances, appearing simultaneously on "Angel" and starring alongside Stanley Tucci on TNT's first serialized drama, "Bull." Elisabeth went on to star as A.D.A. Serena Southerlyn for five years on "Law & Order," winning two SAG awards with her ensemble cast. She extended her television presence with significant roles in "Stalker" for CBS and "The Last Ship" for TNT. Additionally, she portrayed Martha MacCallum in the Roger Ailes biopic "Fair" and starred in the Lifetime feature "Family Pictures" opposite Justina Machado.
Elisabeth also divides her time between television and film, performing with Dylan McDermott and Michael Vartan on "Big Shots," as well as completing five features. She starred with Anjelica Huston and Danny Huston in Bernard Rose's "The Kreutzer Sonata," with Kyra Sedgwick and Vincent D'Onofrio in "Chlorine," with James Caan in "Minkow," the Joel Silver-produced thriller "Transit," opposite Jim Caviezel and James Frain, and John Singleton's "Abduction," with Taylor Lautner, Sigourney Weaver, and Alfred Molina. She is also known for her role in the 2013 film "American Hustle" and the film "Joy."
Having experienced personal loss with her mother's passing due to health issues, Elisabeth has become a powerful advocate for health and wellness. She engages in serious workouts and is a trained emergency volunteer advocating for CPR training. She has been a global ambassador for both the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association, inspiring and educating women on mental and physical fitness through meditation, yoga, and physical fitness. Elisabeth emphasizes the importance of community support and empowerment among women, using her platform to advocate for infertility awareness and education. She authored the book "Baby Steps: Having the Child I Always Wanted (Just Not as I Expected)" to share her experiences with infertility and was awarded the Crystal Cross, the highest honor the Red Cross bestows to Celebrity Cabinet members, for her dedicated humanitarian efforts.
The highlight of her life, daughter Easton August Anthony, remains Elisabeth's main priority. Though challenging to be a working mom, Elisabeth bridges the gap between motherhood and her professional career, focusing their energies on making the world a happier, more literate place.
