Elisabeth Wehling    

Cognitive Scientist, Author & Political Strategist

Elisabeth Wehling is a political strategist and author working in the U.S. and Europe. She is doing research in Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, on how politics is understood both in America and Europe. Wehling was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1981. She studied sociology, journalism, communication psychology, and cognitive linguistics in Hamburg, Rome and Berkeley. She graduated with a PhD in cognitive linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley; her doctoral research was in political cognition and moral judgment. Since 2013, she has been a postdoctoral fellow at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley.

Wehling teaches graduate and undergraduate courses at the University of California, Berkeley. She's also co-organizer of Berkeley International Gesture Pragmatics Conference and 35th Berkeley Linguistics Society Conference and Head of Cognitive Linguistics Reviewing Committee for the Berkeley Linguistics Society Conference 2010-13.
