Eliz Greene

Heart Attack Survivor, Job Stress Researcher, Female Motivational & Business Speaker

Eliz Greene is ridiculously excited about stress. She not only finds the chemical reaction in the body caused by stress fascinating, but stress is also her favorite topic to speak about, write about, or discuss in line at the grocery store.

With a surgically repaired heart, Greene also knows stress management isn’t a ‘nice-to-have,’ but rather an essential survival skill. Surviving a heart attack at age 35 while seven months pregnant with twins propelled Greene on a mission to share her story to inspire other busy people to pay attention to their health. Just days after her heart stopped and she endured open heart surgery and a cesarean section delivery, Greene held both her daughters together for the first time.

Amazingly, despite the pain and uncertainty, what she felt most strongly was contentment. Her priorities were crystal clear. She knew she’d been given a second chance at life and a unique perspective for a reason.

Greene firmly believes she is responsible for showing others how to manage stress and find contentment. Greene is dedicated to leading others on a path to low stress and great success.

For nearly two decades she has traveled the country sharing her story and down-to-earth, well-researched methods to improve heart health. She honed practical and implementable strategies to manage stress for herself and the thousands of audience members and readers she reaches each year.

Her research uncovered the secrets of how purpose-driven organizations create corporate cultures immune to overwhelm and uncertainty.

Knowing she’d been given this incredible story for a reason, Greene’s mission for more than a decade has been to inspire others to pay attention to their heart health.

Greene is a seasoned spokesperson for campaigns such as the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women initiative and the Take Cholesterol To Heart Campaign, a joint initiative of Regis Philbin, Howie Mandel, the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, and Kowa Pharmaceuticals America. Public relations and advertising agencies leverage her speaking platform and social media standing to advance their messages through traditional and earned media.

A passionate advocate for public health and closing the disparity in women’s diagnosis, treatment, and research in heart disease, she led the charge for federal legislation and the smoking ban in Wisconsin.

In 2010 she received the Heart Hero Award and continues to serve as a national spokesperson for the American Heart Association and is a favorite Go Red speaker. She was recently named one of the Top Ten Online Influencers on Stress and is the Heart Disease Expert on Answers.com.

She’s been profiled on CNN, PBS, Lifetime, TNT, and has been interview on countless national and local news programs.

Greene is an author and writes a Top Health and Wellness Blog. She was named as a Top Online Influencer on Stress and Heart Health. She has been recognized as a medically ethical blogger for providing well-researched and responsible information.

She holds a degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a focus on research. In order to provide scientifically relevant data on job stress, she worked with an emeritus Ph.D. level researcher from the University of Wisconsin – Madison to develop the research study.

Greene is a leader in the speaker profession. She led the National Speakers Association’s Academy for new speakers at both the national and chapter levels for more than a decade. She has been on several strategic task forces during times of transition and has led two dynamic diversity groups within the organization.

In addition to her degree in communications, Greene is also trained as an adaptive movement specialist, dance teacher, and choreographer. She uses her adaptive training to create implementable strategies for health and stress management for people of all needs and challenges. More recently, she became a Certified Accountability Advisor through the Accountability Institute.

An avid sailor, Greene enjoys time on Lake Michigan with her husband, Clay, and their beautiful (now adult) daughters.

Resilience is a choice

4 decisions essential to weathering unrelenting stress

Based on more than 100 interviews with leaders and team members, Eliz shares insights to weather the stress of crisis and change.

She discovered that highly capable people are often unequipped to deal with the stress of an unsolvable situation. For them, the stress of dealing with vulnerability amplifies the stress of crisis and change.

Ultimately, resilience is a choice. We choose to move forward in the face of failure, crisis, tragedy, pain, or life-altering (and business-altering) events we can’t control. Understanding your reaction to vulnerability is essential to becoming resilient.

In this program, Eliz shares 4 essential decisions to:

  • Deal with the curse of capability.
  • Get comfortable with the emotional reaction to vulnerability.
  • Focus on what is possible rather than dwelling on what is difficult.
  • Strengthen your resilience muscle.
