Elizabeth Leiba is a writer, college professor, and advocate for Black business women. Her passion for Black history changed her life and catapulted her into a fulfilling line of work as a powerful advocate of social justice and equity.
She was featured in the 2020 New York Times article, “Black LinkedIn Is Thriving. Does LinkedIn Have a Problem With That?,” which highlighted her social justice advocacy work. The response to this article spurred her to launch her online, accessible e-learning platform, Black History & Culture Academy, the stunning educational resource which earned her the recognition of a LinkedIn TOP VOICE in Education in 2020.
In early 2021, Leiba launched her website directory, Black Women Handle Business, which is the premier website for Black women entrepreneurs and professionals to network, collaborate and share resources.
She is also the host of "Black Power Moves," a podcast on EBONY Media Covering Black America Podcast Network and is a published writer. Her most recent writing includes an Op-Ed piece on racial profiling for CNN, which had more than 2 million views on their news website.
Elizabeth Leiba is available in partnership with Collective Speakers.

Social Responsibility & Advocacy: How to Be a Social Justice Warrior
In my role as a outspoken advocate for social justice using social media as my primary platform for advocacy and change, I often get asked by people how they can help or what they can do to fight for change like me. The short answer is that you don’t have to be like me. Not at all! I encourage everyone to operate in their Spheres of influence using a process I call L.E.A.D. In this session, I’ll give you a four-step process for how you can become an advocate for change and making the world a better place in your own way that feels natural and authentic to you.
I'm Not Yelling
Have you ever been in a meeting and wanted to get your point across, but first had to check yourself to see if your tone would be perceived as too aggressive? Women, and particularly Black women, have been taught that we need to be aware of the tone of how we speak, what we say, and how we say it as we navigate professional spaces. This can lead to us doubting our abilities and not performing up to our highest potential. This conversation is about women harnessing the power of their voices and stepping into their authentic truth. You cannot be successful until you embrace who you really are and step into each space confidentially with everything you have to offer. This is about how I did that and I’ll show you how to do it too!
How the @#$% Do We Make Money on LinkedIn?!!
Linkedin is probably one of the most confusing social media platforms out there, but its also the one that has the most potential in creating an amazing brand, developing content and identifying potential clients. Based on research from SocialPilot:
- LinkedIn has 65 million decision-makers and 10 million C-level executives.
- There are 180 million senior-level influencers.
- 60% of U.S. LinkedIn users earn $100,000/year.
- 91% of executives rate LinkedIn as their first choice for professionally relevant content.
But according to Business of Apps, only 3% of members post more than once a week, although over 40 million apply for jobs once a week. With that being said, LinkedIn is definitely an underutilized way to develop a personal brand and platform to establish a reputation as a subject matter expert.
As a Content Creator on LinkedIn, Leiba went from around 7,000 followers in 2020 to now more than 129,000 followers with:
- 48+ million content views
- 1,300+ posts 2+ million likes
- 200,000+ comments
- 16,000+ shares
- 5%+ engagement rate (0.35% is the LinkedIn average)
In this talk, Leiba will explain how to create an authentic voice on the LinkedIn platform, what it takes to cultivate a loyal followers who engage in your content, and how to establish a reputation as a subject matter expert to drive awareness, acquire customers or establish your brand.
