Ellen Knickmeyer is a former Associated Press bureau chief for West Africa and Washington Post bureau chief for Baghdad and Cairo. She received her master's in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2010, and is continuing writing and research in the Middle East focusing on the impact of U.S. financial assistance and foreign policy.
