Elora Dodd is a comedian and online personality who uses her flair for the dramatic to entertain her 500k+ followers online, where she performs under both her name, and the digital pseudonym “Online 1 Room Schoolhouse.” Along with her comedy, she’s spreading education and awareness about the two subjects of advocacy closest to her heart: Disability rights, and religious reform.
As an Autistic woman, Dodd understands from personal experience the value of education and awareness about Autism, and hopes that her outreach through her social media will help change the public perception around this unique neurotype. She also hopes to change perception of disability as a whole, and encourage and provide community to other disabled people.
Dodd's other advocacy passion, religious reform, stems from her time growing up in the evangelical church. Dodd believes it is far too easy for abusers to utilize religious norms to cover their tracks. While Dodd is pro-religion, she is anti-religious abuse. Some examples of religious issues Dodd addresses in her advocacy are purity culture, and the belief that disabled people are disabled due to “lack of faith.”
You can find interviews with Dodd her on the "Bare Marriage" podcast, the "Unverified" podcast, the "Life After MLM" podcast, and "SEND in the Experts with Georgina Durrant." You can read her writings in Wishbone Words magazine and The Creative Zine.
Dodd is a strong supporter of the Neurodiversity movement.

Understanding Autism
Elora presents the basics of understanding Autism (or disability as a whole) in a fun comedy set that will put your group at ease. In talks about Autism, she will answer common questions like “why are so many people Autistic all of a sudden?” and “are all Autistics good at math?” along with some less common questions from the darkest bowels of the internet, like “is Autism caused by bread and/ or demons?” For talks on disability as a whole, Elora will answer your burning questions like “should disabled people get special treatment?” and “how does the 2005 bio-terrorism film ‘Barbie: Fairytopia’ demonstrate the social model of disability?” Whether she is presenting to an audience of parents, educators, or simply curious strangers, Elora approaches serious topics with humor and flair that will keep your whole group learning — and loving it.
