Emily Goff

Research Associate.

Emily Goff advances conservative solutions to economic challenges by analyzing federal budget, transportation and agriculture policy issues as research associate in the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation.

Goff's research and writing focuses on the debt crisis brought on by federal spending growth, especially in entitlement programs. The nation's responsibility to Save the American Dream (the name of Heritage's plan) for today's seniors, their children and grandchildren galvanizes her work. Goff also writes about reducing the federal role in transportation (in favor of state and local control) and in agriculture (to alleviate the burden on taxpayers). She is an analyst for Heritage's popular Federal Budget in Pictures, an annually updated series of downloadable, shareable information graphics on federal spending, debt and taxes.

Goff's research and commentary have appeared in or been cited by print and online outlets such as Bloomberg Businessweek, FoxNews.com, The Orange County Register, The Atlantic and The Washington Examiner.

Goff holds bachelor's degrees in political science and Spanish from the University of Georgia. Before joining Heritage in 2011 as a research assistant, she was a member of the think tank's Young Leaders Internship Program. She also interned in the offices of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue.
