Emily Maitlis is a British-Canadian journalist and broadcaster known for her work with the BBC and as the presenter of Newsnight. Born in Ontario in 1970 and raised in Sheffield, England, Maitlis began her journalism career at BBC Radio 4 before becoming a business correspondent for BBC News in the late 1990s.

Since joining Newsnight as a presenter in 2006, Maitlis has become known for her incisive interviews with politicians and public figures. She has won numerous awards for her journalism, including a BAFTA for her coverage of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, and is an advocate for women's rights and mental health. Maitlis lives in London with her family.
