Dame Emma Walmsley is CEO of global biopharma company GSK. Before being appointed to this role in 2017, she was the CEO of GSK Consumer Healthcare, a joint venture between GSK and Novartis, from its creation in March 2015. Walmsley joined the company in 2010 as President of Consumer Healthcare Europe. She has been a member of the GSK Leadership Team since 2011.

Previously, Walmsley worked at L’Oreal for 17 years in a variety of roles in Paris, London, New York and Shanghai, and was a Non-Executive Director of multinational alcoholic beverage company Diageo plc. She is an Independent Director of Microsoft, Inc.

Walmsley was appointed Dame Commander, the second highest rank in the Order of The British Empire, for services to the pharmaceutical industry and business in 2020. She holds an MA in Classics and Modern Languages from Oxford University.
