Emmanuel Acho, a former Nigerian-American football player, is presently an analyst for Fox Sports 1, co-host of the afternoon studio show "Speak For Yourself," and the lead anchor of the rebranded show "SPEAK" on FS1. He is also the creator and host of "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man," a web series and an anti-racism initiative that drives open and uncomfortable dialogues.
Acho's accomplishments extend beyond his sports and broadcasting career. He is a prolific author, with three books to his credit, including "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man," "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Boy," and his most recent release in March 2022, "Illogical: Saying Yes to a Life Without Limits." All his books have achieved the status of New York Times bestsellers. His literary work, coupled with his impactful web series, earned him a PrimeTime Emmy for Outstanding Short form Nonfiction or Reality Series.
Amid an ongoing racism controversy from The Bachelor host Chris Harrison, Acho stepped in to host the "After the Final Rose" Special with Bachelor Matt James, following the host of the ABC franchise taking a hiatus. He also received a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent for his work co-hosting "Speak for Yourself."
Acho's academic achievements include graduating from the University of Texas, where he played college football for the Texas Longhorns. He holds an undergraduate degree in sports management and a master's degree in sports psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. After playing as a linebacker in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants, Acho transitioned to broadcasting in 2016. He also had a stint as an analyst for the Longhorn Network before becoming a full-time analyst for ESPN2's college football programming.
Apart from his professional endeavors, Acho is also a devoted Christian, who, along with his family's non-profit organization, Living Hope Christian Ministries, has been involved in medical missionary work in Nigeria. His efforts contributed to the building of a hospital in rural Nigeria. Also noteworthy is his musical talent as a baritone and piano player.
